Everything you need for June 27 online worship.
Preparations for Worship:
- Do your best to eliminate distractions like the phone, TV, etc.
- Worship actively! Whether you are by yourself or with others, try reading the parts of the service aloud (responses, lessons, and prayers).
- This service is for children too. Help them participate. Ask those who have that ability to read a prayer or lesson aloud. Take a moment to describe what’s happening. Ask questions. Encourage little ones to draw what they are hearing while you all listen. Unlike our more typical Sunday worship at church, you can pause at any time for questions and discussion.
- Before you begin, load each of the videos below. (You might first have to get past a distracting ad.)
- Pause for a moment of quiet meditation. Then pray:
“Heavenly Father, I have come to worship you. Draw near to me in your gracious Word, and assure me of your loving kindness. Curb my wandering thoughts, that with undivided attention I may hear your voice and speak your praise. Through Jesus Christ. Amen.”
INVOCATION
O Lord, open my lips. And my mouth shall declare your praise.
Hasten to save me, O God. O Lord, come quickly to help me.
The glory of Christ is revealed: let us worship him.
Grant, O merciful Lord, to your faithful people pardon and peace that they may be cleansed from all their sins and serve you with a quiet mind; through Jesus Christ, your Son, our Lord, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and forever. Amen.
LESSON – PROVERBS 30:4-5
4Who has gone up to heaven and come down?
Who has gathered the wind in the palms of his hands?
Who has wrapped the water in a garment?
Who has set up all the ends of the earth?
What is his name and the name of his son?
Tell me if you know!
5Every word of God has been refined.
He is a shield to those who take refuge in him.
LESSON – ACTS 27:13-26
13When a gentle south wind began to blow, they thought they could carry out their plan. They raised the anchor and sailed close to the shore of Crete. 14But before long, a hurricane-like wind, called the “northeaster,” rushed down from the island. 15Since the ship was caught in it and could not head into the wind, we gave way to it and were driven along. 16As we sailed on the sheltered side of a small island called Cauda, we were barely able to secure the skiff. 17After hoisting it on board, the men tied ropes around the ship to reinforce it. Then, fearing that they would run aground on the sandbars of Syrtis, they lowered the sea anchor and in this way were driven along. 18Because we were tossed around so violently by the storm, the next day they began to throw the cargo overboard. 19On the third day, they threw the ship’s gear overboard with their own hands. 20When neither sun nor stars appeared for many days and the violent storm kept pressing down on us, finally all hope that we would be saved was disappearing. 21After they had gone a long time without food, Paul stood up among them and said, “Men, you should have followed my advice and not set sail from Crete and avoided this damage and loss. 22But now I urge you to keep up your courage, because there will be no loss of life among you. Only the ship will be lost. 23In fact, last night an angel of the God to whom I belong and whom I serve stood beside me 24and said, ‘Do not be afraid, Paul. You must stand before Caesar. And surely God has graciously given you all those who are sailing with you.’ 25So keep up your courage, men, because I believe God that it will be exactly the way I have been told. 26However, we must run aground on some island.”
DEVOTION – MARK 4:35-41

PRAYER OF THE CHURCH
O Lord, from whom our help comes, You have brought us into Your Holy Christian Church and made Christ our shield from every enemy.
Preserve us in such faith until at last You bring us out of this world in the resurrection forevermore.
Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, you are the One who brings the light of salvation into our world full of darkness.. We praise and thank you for blessing the efforts of our synod’s Mission for the Visually Impaired to bring your saving Word to people with vision impairments, enabling them to read it, ponder it, and be enlightened by it..
Fill those who are blessed by this ministry with holy joy over their place in your saving kingdom.
Gracious Lord, Your compassion does not willingly afflict or grieve the children of men, but Your mercies are new every morning. Bestow Your steadfast love on every Christian home. Turn parents in kindness to their children; make children ready in obedience and love toward their parents and each other.
Let the young learn discipline and trust in You, and let fathers not exasperate their children, but be devoted to the fear and instruction of the Lord as examples to them.
Almighty God, be with the governing authorities and enable them to preserve peace and order in our nation. Hear our prayers for our president and governor; our military and police; and other civil servants.
Increase a spirit of unity and cooperation among the people of our land and the nations of the world.
O Lord, we implore You, hear our prayers for those in need. Drive away our fears and give us believing faith. Give healing and strength to the sick and suffering especially Marie Hagen who is recovering after surgery.
Give comfort to all those who mourn in the knowledge that Christ has destroyed death and all who die in Him are only sleeping until You awaken them at the Last Day.
These and whatever else You would have us ask, O God, grant us for the sake of Jesus Christ, who taught us to pray…
Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name, thy kingdom come, thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread; and forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us; and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For thine is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever and ever. Amen.
O Lord, our heavenly Father, almighty and everlasting God, you have brought us safely to this new day. Defend us with your mighty power, and grant that this day we neither fall into sin nor run into any kind of danger; and in all we do, direct us to what is right in your sight, through Jesus Christ, your Son, our Lord. Amen.
Let us praise the Lord. Thanks be to God.
THE LORD’S BLESSING
The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ and the love of God and the fellowship of the Holy Spirit be with you all. Amen.
